Everywhere in the world, human beings need clean drinking water to survive. However we are expecting a serious shortage in fresh water supply in a close future. Even the production of drinking water from the oceans by reverse osmosis is no solution, because it is energy intensive and pollutes the seas with brine.
Marc Parent from France has developed a system which extracts and condensates humidity from the air used in a wind energy generator. The energy needed for condensation is thus produced by the plant itself in its wind turbine. It is a small-scaled system which can be quickly installed and operated in remote regions and even areas struck by natural desasters.
This system offers several benefits at a time which are responding to the principles of the Blue Economy. On one hand, the plant is independent from existing infrastructure. On the other hand, the drinking water obtained is not only much cheaper, but also cleaner than any water produced in a traditional way.
